Founded in 2013, the Ardnamurchan Distillery stands on the westernmost peninsula of the UK, a remote corner of the Scottish Highlands overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. From here the view embraces wild islands, castles, lochs, and pristine landscapes – a territory that reflects the authentic character of its whiskies. Production focuses on two distinctive styles of single malt: peated and unpeated, both deeply tied to the land.
The Ardnamurchan AD/ Madeira Cask is a vintage 2018 single malt Scotch whisky created with 60% peated and 40% unpeated spirit. It was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing a two-year finishing in ex-Madeira wine casks. Bottled in 2025 at 52% ABV, it is non-chill filtered, natural color, and released in a total of 19,598 bottles.

Color: Amber.
Nose: Rich and enveloping, opening with notes of cocoa powder and stewed plums, layered with sweeter tones of freshly baked bread and butter, warm pastries. Sugared almonds and nutmeg emerge, alongside hints of redcurrant and subtle herbal nuances.
Palate: Starts with lively spiciness – cinnamon, spiced wood, nutmeg and citrus peel – balanced by a mix of dried fruit, chocolate, and caramelized apple. Herbal notes return with rosemary and pine needles.
Finish: Medium in length, slightly dry, with warm spices, delicate oak, red fruit jam and citrus, touched by a faint grassy note.
