Bowmore is one of the oldest distilleries on the Isle of Islay, founded in 1779 on the shores of Lochindaal Bay. Its coastal position and the use of local peat give its whiskies a distinctive character, with a medium level of smokiness that pairs well with sherry cask maturation. Today owned by Beam Suntory, Bowmore maintains a production faithful to Islay tradition, producing elegant and well-structured peated single malts. The 15 Years Old is one of the house’s historic expressions, initially aged in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks.
The Bowmore 15 Years Old spends the first 12 years of maturation in American ex-bourbon casks and the last 3 years in Oloroso sherry casks; this combination gives the whisky balance and richness.
