Mac-Talla Lighthouse marks the debut of the “Lighthouse” series, designed to guide enthusiasts on a sensory journey through the flavours of the island of Islay. The brand, owned by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, invites European and British partners to take part in the final selection of the spirit, giving this release a strongly collaborative character.
The Mac-Talla Lighthouse Release 2024 is a peated single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a selection of casks: first-fill ex-bourbon barrels (33%), ex-sherry Oloroso (22%) and Pedro Ximénez hogsheads (17%), virgin oak casks (17%), and finally, ex-French Bordeaux wine barriques (11%). This whisky is then bottled at its natural cask strength (54% ABV), unchill-filtered and at its natural colour.

Color: Deep copper with mahogany reflections.
Aroma: On the nose, the typical Islay sea breeze and coastal smoke appear immediately, followed by burnt orange peel, dried fruits (raisin, plum), and dark chocolate. A light hint of sweet spices, cloves and cinnamon, with toasted wood notes.
Taste: Full and assertive entry: peat smoke greets us, candied citrus fruits, vanilla, baking spices, spiced wood, and a light hint of molasses and cocoa, with a mineral-saline background reminiscent of the coast.
Finish: Long, the smoke is always present, then notes of sea salt, orange peel, vanilla, cinnamon, and raisin.
