The Maker's Mark distils its bourbon at a deliberately lower strength (45% vol.) compared to the classic strength of American bourbon; in this way, according to the distillery, the whisky better preserves its flavour. Furthermore, Maker's Mark does not use rye as a grain but winter red wheat to reduce the burning sensation on the palate. A rather pleasant product, both neat and with the addition of ice, as well as used as an ingredient in cocktails.
