The Miyagikyo distillery was founded in 1969 by the father of Japanese whisky, Masataka Taketsuru. Masataka’s idea was to have a distillery in the Highlands style, producing a well-bodied whisky that was not too peated. Miyagikyo was built among the mountains of Sendai, in contrast to his first distillery, Yoichi, built in a coastal area.
The Miyagikyo Single Malt includes whiskies of various ages, aged primarily in ex-sherry casks.
The box contains: One 700ml bottle of Miyagikyo Single Malt and two tasting glasses with Nikka Whisky logo.
