Port Askaig is the Islay range of independent bottlings signed by Elixir Distillers, which selects single malts from an undisclosed distillery on the island. The name “100° Proof” recalls the ancient British alcohol measurement system, equivalent to today’s 57.1% vol.: a high strength that delivers all the intensity of the distillate.
Originally launched in 2015 and then withdrawn, the new Port Askaig 100 Proof has returned as part of the core range. It is matured exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, which enhance its earthy sweetness, and is assembled in small batches of about 60 casks before being bottled at 57.1% vol., without chill filtration and at its natural colour.
