California is best known as a wine region. In the shadow of the famous Napa Valley, heading west you reach Sonoma County. Despite the many wineries in the area, an intriguing distillery also resides here. In 2010, Adam Spiegel founded the Sonoma Distilling Company after helping a friend run a distillery in Santa Rosa and discovering his passion for spirits production. His goal was—and still is—to craft small-batch, artisanal whiskey.
The Sonoma California Smoked Bourbon is a non-age-statement Bourbon whiskey made with a mashbill consisting of 67% corn, 20% rye, and 13% cherrywood-smoked malted barley, smoked directly at the distillery. This whiskey is aged, as per regulation, for at least three years in new American white oak barrels before being bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof).
