Wolfburn distillery is located a few kilometres from Thurso, in Caithness, and is considered the northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland. Opened in 2013, it was conceived as the modern revival of a historic distillery founded in 1821 and closed at the end of the 19th century, from which it takes its name. A project that therefore combines historical roots and contemporary vision, with the declared aim of producing high-quality single malts following traditional methods.
The Wolfburn 12 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 12 years in a mix of casks comprising 50% ex-bourbon and 50% second-fill ex-sherry Oloroso. It is bottled at 46% vol., without chill-filtration and with natural colour.

Color: Light amber.
Aroma: On the nose it opens with sweet and floral aromas, accompanied by honey, brown sugar and fruity notes such as plums and peaches. More mineral and coastal nuances are also perceived, with hints of light spices (nutmeg, cinnamon) and incense.
Taste: On the palate the entry is full: honey, baked apple and caramel take centre stage, followed by warm spices, black pepper and notes of black tea. Saline and maritime traits emerge, with more earthy and vegetal hints intertwining with berries and candied fruit.
Finish: The finish is medium in length, with returns of burnt caramel, liquorice, dried fruit and a light vegetal smokiness.
