If you've heard of Japanese whisky, you've probably heard of Yamazaki — today likely the most popular Japanese whisky brand. Suntory, the company behind the Yamazaki distillery, became famous not only for its whiskies but also for the film Lost in Translation, starring Bill Murray, who in the movie is hired as a celebrity to advertise Hibiki 17 Years Old, another top-tier product from Suntory.
The Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve is a Japanese single malt whisky with no age statement, matured in a mix of ex-sherry and ex-Bordeaux wine casks before being finished in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels. This whisky is finally bottled at 43% ABV, unchill-filtered and with its natural color.
