The Aberfeldy distillery was founded in 1898 by the brothers John Alexander and Tommy Dewar, sons of the founder of Dewar’s, with the main objective of producing high-quality malt for their blends. Located near the town of Aberfeldy on the banks of the River Tay in the Highlands, the distillery draws its water from the Pitilie Burn spring. After various changes of ownership during the 20th century, it passed to the Bacardi group in 1998 together with the Dewar’s brand. Today Aberfeldy is appreciated for its soft, fruity and honeyed single malts, often enhanced by special cask finishes such as this Madeira Cask version.
The Aberfeldy 12 Years Old Madeira Cask Finish is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 12 years and finished for several months in Madeira casks. It is a product launched specifically for the duty free market and is bottled at the classic 40% vol.
