Located off the west coast of Scotland, the island of Islay is known as the “Queen of the Hebrides”; all the distilleries active on the island are renowned for their predominantly peated and smoky single malts, each offering its own variation on the theme: ash, beach bonfire, iodine, coal and even tar. Well, Big Peat was created to capture the very best of the island’s distilleries in a single bottle.
The Big Peat 12 Years Old is a peated blended malt Scotch composed of single malts aged for at least 12 years in selected oak casks. Inside this blend you will find whisky from Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and, rumour has it, Port Ellen!

Aroma: On the nose, peat greets us immediately: notes of charred oak, extinguished beach bonfire, vanilla pod, light iodine and a hint of liquorice.
Palate: On the palate, the peat continues its work brilliantly; we have notes of fireplace smoke, sea breeze, citrus peel, grilled pineapple, ginger and toasted dried fruit.
Finish: The finish is long, with peat smoke accompanying us alongside notes of cane sugar, fruit cake and a pinch of pepper and salt that lingers on the lips.
