Founded in Edinburgh in 1885, North British is one of Scotland’s most historic grain whisky distilleries and the only one still operating in the city. It uses mainly grain with a small portion of malted barley, distilling in continuous Coffey stills. Its whisky is a key component in many famous blends such as Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, and Famous Grouse.
The North British 15 Years Old is a single grain Scotch whisky distilled in 2009 and aged for about 13 years in ex‑bourbon casks before undergoing a two‑year secondary maturation in three different casks: one first‑fill cask from a peated Islay whisky, one ex‑Tokaji wine cask, and one ex‑Oloroso sherry cask (2100001 / 221649 / 2101056). After this period the whisky was married and finally bottled at 49.5% ABV, non‑chill‑filtered and at natural color, with a total outturn of 963 bottles.

Color: Gold with orange highlights.
Aroma: A creamy opening of vanilla, with notes of apple compote and coconut. It then develops into warm malt nuances and a light beeswax tone that adds depth. In the background, subtle smoke and a gentle sweetness round out the nose.
Taste: Sweet and spicy, with notes of vanilla and caramel merging with fresh citrus and orange blossom. The Islay peat is present but restrained, integrated with an oily texture and hints of toasted hazelnuts.
Finish: Soft and pleasantly persistent, with gentle smoke mingling with ripe orchard fruits and a sweet echo of spices and wood. Simple yet elegant, leaving a light smoky trail behind.
