Brands:

GlenAllachie is a Speyside distillery founded in 1967 near Aberlour. For many years it produced whisky for blends, but since 2017—under the guidance of Billy Walker and his team—it has transformed into an independent producer focused on single malts. It’s known for very long fermentations and careful cask selection, resulting in whiskies that are soft, fruity, and rich in honey. Its 12‑year‑old expression has earned major international awards, confirming the quality of this reborn distillery.

The GlenAllachie 9 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2014 and aged for 9 years exclusively in five barriques that previously held Barolo wine from Piedmont, before being bottled at its natural strength of 56.1% ABV, non‑chill‑filtered and at natural color, with a total outturn of 1,658 bottles.

Color: Yellow with pinkish highlights.

Aroma: Notes of blueberries and tart forest fruits, with nuances of raspberries and strawberries. Also emerging are ripe cherries, red apples, and a veil of honey and brown sugar. Light spices and vanilla linger in the background.

Taste: On the palate it opens with honey and butter cookies, joined by a mix of red fruits—redcurrants, wild berries, and cherry liqueur. Herbal notes follow, such as thyme and dried mint, along with spices, pepper, and a malty base.

Finish: Creamy and intense, with hints of rose water, baking spices, and honey supporting a gentle sweetness of cherries. A rather short but harmonious finish.
