Sonoma County, famed for its vineyards, has been home to the Sonoma Distilling Company since 2010. It was founded by Adam Spiegel—an enthusiastic distiller who, after years of experience in Santa Rosa, set out to create small-batch craft whiskies.
The Sonoma California Smoked Rye is a non-age-statement rye whiskey made with a mashbill consisting of 80% rye, 20% wheat, and 13% cherrywood-smoked malted barley, smoked directly at the distillery. This whiskey is aged, as required by regulations, for at least three years in new American white oak barrels before being bottled at 46.5% ABV (93 proof).
