The history of Adelphi dates back to 1826, when the “Adelphi” distillery was founded in Glasgow along the River Clyde. During the nineteenth century it became one of the largest Lowland whisky distilleries in the city, but by the end of the century it ceased operations and the buildings were later demolished.
The Adelphi name was revived in the 1990s by Jamie Walker, a descendant of the historic Scottish family, who transformed the brand into one of the most respected independent bottlers in Scotland. The company’s philosophy has always been to select and bottle whiskies of exceptional quality, often from single casks and in limited quantities, favouring character and authenticity.
The Adelphi Private Stock Reserve Peated (Release 2025) is a peated blended Scotch whisky that includes a significant portion of single malts coming from a “mysterious” distillery in the western Highlands (Adelphi owns the Ardnamurchan distillery, which happens to be located in that very area…) as well as single malts from the island of Islay. The whisky is matured in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and is bottled at 46% vol., without added colouring and without chill filtration, in a total of 1,800 bottles.
