Brands:

For over 25 years, the Italian independent bottler Wilson & Morgan has delighted us with its fine selections, and this latest release is no exception.

The Wilson & Morgan Caol Ila 100 UK Proof is a peated single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2014 at the eponymous distillery on the island of Islay. It was aged in traditional oak casks before undergoing a further finishing, almost a second maturation, lasting 30 months in second fill virgin oak casks. This whisky was finally bottled at 57.1% vol., the historic strength once used by British naval ships in the 19th century to verify the quality of the spirit (100 proof), without chill filtration and at its natural colour.

Aroma: On the nose we find the classic Caol Ila profile, with notes of smoke, iodine and sea breeze, accompanied by hints of citrus, vanilla and ginger.

Taste: On the palate the peat continues to accompany the journey, followed by notes of ginger, spiced oak, lemon peel, brined olives, and the distillery’s typical smoky and ashy character.

Finish: Of good persistence, slightly dry and warm, with notes of a beach bonfire, citrus, vanilla, brined olives and a light hint of malted barley.
