Caol Ila Distillery is located on the north-eastern coast of the island of Islay, overlooking the strait that separates Islay from Jura. Founded in 1846, it is one of the island’s most important distilleries in terms of volume and production continuity. Caol Ila is known for a clean, linear peated style, with a strong maritime and citrus component that remains clearly recognisable even after long ageing.
Gordon & MacPhail is one of Scotland’s longest-established independent bottlers, active since 1895 in Elgin, Speyside. The Discovery Range was conceived as an introductory line, designed to explore the style of Scottish distilleries through clearly readable maturations and an immediate profile, without special finishes.
The Caol Ila 13 Years Old – Discovery Range is a peated single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 13 years in a selection of ex-bourbon oak casks and bottled, without chill filtration and at natural colour, at 43% vol. as part of the Discovery range by the historic Scottish independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail.
