Founded in 1753 in the Trelawny region of Jamaica, Hampden Estate is one of the oldest rum distilleries still in operation and represents an absolute benchmark for the traditional Jamaican style.
The Hampden Estate OWH 8 Years Old is a pure single Jamaican rum that perfectly represents the traditional style of the historic Jamaican distillery. It is a bottling designed to highlight one of Hampden’s most iconic marks, OWH, offering an aromatic profile that is intense yet still extremely balanced and accessible.
Produced exclusively from molasses and distilled in traditional pot stills, this rum is aged for at least 8 years in the tropical climate of Jamaica, a condition that significantly accelerates cask evolution and concentrates the aromas. In line with the distillery’s philosophy, it is bottled without the addition of sugars, colouring or chill filtration.
The “OWH” (Outram W. Hussey) mark belongs to Hampden’s medium-high ester range (approximately 40–80 gr/hlpa), offering a typically “funky” profile but less extreme than the distillery’s higher-ester marks.
