The Old Perth Cask Strength is a blended malt Scotch whisky produced and bottled by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, an independent Scottish company based in Perthshire. The Old Perth brand traces its roots back to the 19th century, when the city of Perth was one of the main centres of Scotch whisky blending. Several of the most important blending houses of the time were based here, including John Dewar & Sons and Bell’s, helping to build the city’s reputation as one of the historic hearts of the whisky industry in Scotland.
The Cask Strength version represents the most intense expression in the Old Perth range and is composed exclusively of single malts from Speyside, selected and blended by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. The whiskies used mature in ex-sherry casks, which give the blend a rich and structured profile. This style recalls the tradition of whiskies historically blended in Perth, at a time when much of Scotch whisky was matured in casks that had previously held Spanish sherry, then among the most common vessels used for whisky ageing.
