Glenfarclas Distillery is located at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Speyside, and the name Glenfarclas derives from the Gaelic “valley of the green grassland”. A distinctive feature of the distillery is the use of traditional production methods such as direct-fired stills, a choice that is now rare in Scotland and central to the robust and full-bodied style of its whiskies. Another defining element is the strong connection to maturation in European oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks, personally selected by the family from a Spanish bodega.
The Glenfarclas 16 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 16 years exclusively in ex-sherry Oloroso casks, before being bottled at a classic 46% vol., without chill filtration and at its natural colour.

Colour: Bright amber.
Aroma: On the nose we find aromas of honey, ripe fruit and dried fruit. Notes of apple, pear and orange peel then emerge, accompanied by cinnamon, chocolate and spiced oak.
Taste: Sweet and oily on entry, with a fruity texture recalling figs, dates and plums, followed by honey, vanilla and spices with hints of leather, spiced wood and a light peppery touch.
Finish: Of good persistence, warm and spicy, with returning notes of sherry, oak and dark fruit, accompanied by an elegant and slightly peppery close.
