Ardnamurchan is located on the remote peninsula of the same name in the western Highlands, considered one of the most isolated areas of mainland Scotland. It is not a historic nineteenth-century distillery: it is relatively young, construction began in 2013 and production started in 2014, and it is owned by the independent Adelphi, a name highly respected among enthusiasts.
The Ardnamurchan AD/ Sauternes Peated Cask is a peated single malt Scotch whisky aged for 3 years in 29 ex-bourbon casks, then transferred into ex-Sauternes wine barriques for a further 3 and a half years of maturation, before being bottled at 50% vol. without added coloring and without chill filtration in 8,460 bottles.

Colour: Bright honey.
Aroma: On the nose we have initial notes of sea breeze, lemon peel and pineapple, then it turns towards pastry notes, with tea biscuits, coconut, ginger and hints of minerals and tobacco.
Taste: On the palate we have notes of black pepper, green apple, a light peated and smoky note that recalls a bonfire on the beach, then citrus peel and a pinch of salt.
Finale: Of good persistence, slightly tannic and spicy, with notes of oak, salted caramel, maritime peat smoke and hints of tobacco.
