The distillery was founded in 1871 by Alexander Wilson & Co. and is believed to have been built to replace the Tochineal Distillery, from which some of the original equipment was also sourced. It is one of the few distilleries to have been owned by the local municipal council, which stepped in to save the site in 1936 when the Wilson family went bankrupt.
The 100 Proof series by Signatory features single malts bottled at 57.1% vol., the historic British proof strength, without chill filtration and with maturations designed to offer whiskies with a bold and distinctive profile.
The Inchgower 13 Years Old 100 Proof is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2011 and matured for 13 years exclusively in first-fill ex-sherry Oloroso casks, before being bottled in 2025 at 57.1% vol., without chill filtration and at its natural colour.
