Founded in 1897, like Knockando, Tamdhu is one of those distilleries built in the late 19th century to supply single malts for the most famous blends. It was designed by Charles Doig and was reputed to be the most efficient distillery of its time.
The Tamdhu 11 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2014 and matured for about 10 years in a single ex-bourbon cask, before being finished for a few months in a unique first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry cask (#C25125). It was bottled at cask strength (54.8% ABV), non-chill filtered, and with no added colouring, in a total of 283 bottles.

Colour: Light amber.
Nose: The nose opens with sweet and buttery aromas: custard, marzipan, and cane sugar. These are joined by notes of strawberry and redcurrant in syrup, with a light hint of jam that adds a juicy, fruity contrast, bringing freshness to the bouquet.
Palate: Structured and enveloping, with dominant oak and spice notes. You’ll find vanilla, butter biscuits, and a malty undertone. Later, more delicate tones of red berries, pastries, and baked apples emerge.
Finish: Pleasantly sweet, with spiced wood, soft lemon custard, raisins, strawberries, and sherried notes.
