Built in 1797 on the outskirts of Kirkwall, the main town of the Orkney Islands, Highland Park takes its name from the High Park hill on which the distillery stands. From this position it was possible to see anyone arriving in the harbour — a very useful advantage in the past. In its early days the distillery operated illegally (Highland Park only applied for and received its licence in 1826), so keeping watch for His Majesty’s excise officers docking in port was vital to the business.
The Highland Park 10 Years Old Viking Scars is a tribute to the Viking influence on the Orkney Islands, their values and their masterful craftsmanship. This single malt Scotch whisky is aged for 10 years in predominantly ex-sherry casks before being bottled at 40% vol.

Color: Light amber.
Nose: Opens with the distillery’s classic maritime and heather smoke notes, which blend beautifully with vanilla and lemon.
Palate: Soft and spicy with notes of citrus, vanilla, earthy peat and honey.
Finish: Short persistence with notes of honey, heather, sea salt and pepper, together with hints of freshly cut grass.
